The Build Swap ▓ HOW IT SHIPS

> alta edits a spec sheet and hits save. that runs a full site build on the same box, from the database that was just written to. no github, no webhook, no pipeline.

> the build goes into a separate directory and nothing is served from it while it runs. only when it finishes clean is that directory renamed into place, in one operation, and the server is pointed at it.

> so a broken build cannot reach the public site. if it fails, the previous version stays up and the error goes back to the admin screen instead of to a customer.
